There’s something about the smell and touch of a horse…

Come to Triquetra Farm in Wallan, less than an hour north of Melbourne, to spend time with our horses, meet the cows and take a breath of country air. Bring your family, come with a friend or enjoy a visit just for yourself.

You might be meeting a horse for the first time, returning after years away, or simply looking for something different to do together. No riding or previous horse experience is needed.

A relaxed visit is just one way to experience Triquetra. Jane also brings her executive leadership and coaching experience to corporate team building and leadership days, and offers practical learning for people considering their first horse or finding their feet as new owners.

Your visit, your pace

“Hanging with Horses” is your chance to experience the power of presence and connection with our lovely horses. How you spend your time depends on your interests, confidence and the horses on the day.

You might groom a horse, learn about leading and handling, or discover how a small change in your body language can change its response. Where appropriate, Jane may guide you in giving a horse direction in the round yard.

If that feels outside your comfort zone, you can take it slowly. Being close to a horse, watching the herd or offering a first gentle pat can be an experience in itself.

Everything takes place on the ground. We will introduce you to the basics of being around horses safely and help you find a comfortable place to start.

A family farm experience

Children are welcome at any age. For some, the excitement will be getting close enough to touch a horse. Others will be curious about grooming, handling and how horses communicate.

We shape the visit around your family rather than expecting everyone to do the same thing. Younger children can meet the horses with adult support and Jane’s guidance; older children may be ready to take a more active role.

Parents and carers must remain present and responsible for supervising their children throughout the visit. Older children can have space to explore an activity with Jane, while their accompanying adult stays nearby.

Tell us how many adults and children are coming, the children’s ages and what they would love to experience. That helps us plan a visit that works for everyone.

More than horses

There is more to see at Triquetra than the equine team. Spend some time with the cows or just relax and enjoy being outdoors.

You might spot kangaroos, deer or one of our local wedge-tailed eagles. We cannot book the wildlife in, but we are always pleased when they make an appearance.

It is the real deal: paddocks, animals, sensible shoes and sometimes a bit of mud. Feel free to dress like a cowgirl or cowboy if the mood takes you.

Meet Jane

Jane has had horses in her life for 55 years. She has bred and started her own horses, including a stallion who became a national champion, and loves sharing what she has learned.

We spend our lives hanging with horses. Introducing someone to them for the first time—or welcoming back someone who has not been near one in years—is a pleasure for us.

You don’t need to arrive knowing what to do. Bring your curiosity and your questions. Jane will help you build confidence without making you feel that you should already know the answers.

Visit options and prices

A 90 minute visit gives you time to meet the horses and enjoy an introduction shaped around your interests.

A private visit for one paying participant: $150.
A visit for two paying participants: $95 per person—$190 total.
Children under 16 participate free with a paying adult.
Accompanying parents or carers are welcome to watch without charge.

Prices include GST. Tell us who would like to participate and who will be accompanying them, and we will confirm the total before you visit. Please enquire about three or more paying participants.

Half-day and full-day visits can also be arranged. We will discuss the activities, time and catering you would like and provide a price for your group.

First horses and new owners

Thinking of buying your first horse? Already have one and discovering how much there is to learn? Perhaps your child is the horse enthusiast and you are trying to catch up.

Jane offers practical learning at the farm using our horses. Ask about care, feeding, equipment, costs, handling, introductory groundwork and transport. You don’t need to know the right questions before you arrive.

A few practical details

We are at 215 Wallan Heights Road, Wallan, Victoria, less than an hour north of Melbourne.

Visits are arranged by appointment. We will discuss the weather and suitable arrangements with you when planning your visit.

Wear sensible, closed-toe footwear with flat heels, preferably leather, and dress for the conditions. Children need suitable footwear too.

Tell us about anything that may affect your confidence or participation so we can discuss what would suit you. All horse activities are ground-based; riding is not part of this experience.
