This isn’t a theoretical session in a meeting room with post-it notes. Your team will step outdoors, meet a new colleague with four legs and discover what horses can teach us about presence, communication, connection and trust.

These guided, ground based activities are a form of equine-assisted learning.  Your team can try something unfamiliar, notice how the horses respond and learn what that might mean.  

Our team building experiences

Our team building experiences are designed for small groups of up to six. Choose a half day, full day or two-day program at our Wallan farm, less than an hour north of Melbourne. We can also work at a partner equestrian centre or arrange a suitable equestrian venue closer to your team elsewhere in Victoria.

No riding involved. No horse experience required. In fact, our favourite groups are the ones where no one knows quite what to expect from a horse!

Meet your guide, Jane

Jane brings more than 40 years working with horses and over 20 years in executive leadership roles. She has led teams and organisations, coached and mentored leaders, served on boards, and bred and started her own horses.

She knows that getting a group of people to work well together can be rather more complicated than it sounds. She also knows that horses have a knack for showing us things we might miss about ourselves.

Jane and the Triquetra team will guide your group through the activities, help make sense of what happens and keep everyone, including the horses, safe. You can expect thoughtful discussion, practical challenges and a few laughs along the way.

Why bring horses into team building?

Horses are astute readers of their surroundings and of body language. Working well with them asks us to pay attention, communicate clearly and earn their trust and respect. Patience, empathy, persistence and resilience come in handy too.

They respond to what we do, not the job title on our business card. That can give a team a fresh way to notice how its members communicate, influence one another and work through a challenge.

We don’t expect everyone to have a life-changing revelation in a paddock. We do create opportunities to try something unfamiliar, receive some honest feedback and have a useful conversation about what it might mean back at work.

And no, you won’t be riding. All the horse activities take place on the ground.

How the experience works

We build the day around three ingredients: presence, connection and trust.

First, the foundations

We introduce your team to the horses, explain how to work safely around them and show you some basics of horsemanship. You’ll begin to notice how a horse communicates and what happens when you change the way you approach it.

Then, theory into practice

Your group works with an equine team member through a series of activities. You’ll practice building connection and trust while noticing how the human team makes decisions, shares ideas and responds to each other.

Finally, a little bit of pressure

The working day can throw a few curve balls, so we finish with “the challenge.” It gives your group a chance to put what it has learned to purpose. It’s where we make diamonds—or at least get some interesting conversations started.

Throughout the experience, we make time to reflect on what happened and what your team might take back into the workplace.

A sample single day at our Wallan farm

Every group is different, so we can tailor the focus of the session. Here is an example of how a day at Triquetra might unfold:

• 10.00 am: Arrive, meet the team and enjoy morning tea
• 11.00 am: Horse safety, an introduction to horsemanship and reading horses
• 12.00 pm: Meet your new equine team member and begin the first activity
• 12.45 pm: Lunch and discussion
• 1.15 pm: Second team activity
• 1.45 pm: The challenge
• 2.30 pm: Wrap-up and afternoon tea
• 3.00 pm: Head for home

Half-day and two-day experiences are also available. If we work with you at another Victorian venue, we’ll agree on the timing, facilities and catering as part of planning your program.

At Triquetra Farm: Join us on our bush grazing property at Wallan, less than an hour north of Melbourne. It’s our favourite way to work and a chance to experience the tranquillity of the farm for yourself.

At a partner equestrian centre: If a farm setting isn’t quite right for your group, we can discuss a partner venue with suitable horse facilities.

Elsewhere in Victoria: Tell us where your team is based. We can discuss arranging a suitable equestrian centre closer to you and bringing the horses to that venue, subject to the facilities and arrangements needed to keep people and horses safe.

The finer details

We cater for all levels of inexperience. We’ll teach you what you need to know to take part in the activities safely; you don’t need to know one end of a horse from the other before you arrive.

For a day at the farm, activities are outside, weather permitting. Wear sensible, closed-toe footwear with flat heels, preferably leather. Feel free to dress like a cowgirl or cowboy if the mood takes you.

Spring introductory offer: A private, full-day team building experience at Triquetra Farm for up to six people, including morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, is $2,970 including GST for bookings confirmed by 31 October 2026. Ask us about other dates, group formats and Victorian venues.
